taOpen

fma systems' proprietory product, taOpen, is an immensely flexible and comprehensive computer-based bulk distribution system that meets the needs of today's distribution depots.

An innovative computing solution with a windows interface, taOpen is designed to be easy to use and enables all functions to be run either on a single workstation or on distributed processors.

Capable of interfacing with major supply chain management systems such as SAP™, J D Edwards™ and SunSystems™, taOpen has been installed at depots worldwide ranging from the Dominican Republic to Indonesia, and across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The largest site currently using the system has some 1,000 vehicle movements a day, while the smallest has just 20.

Depending on the customer's requirements, taOpen can be configured to provide any or all of the following functions:
- Supervision of vehicle loading and unloading operations
- Vehicle and pedestrian access control
- Internet-ready communications to other supervisory systems
- Stock management
- Two- and three-dimensional graphics
- Tank Level gauging
- Vehicle bunkering

taOpen software is written in the industry standard C++ language, using the stable and secure UNIX and LINUX operating systems. The proven Oracle database allows greater flexibility and compatibility with the customer's own systems.

taOpen, is a flexible and comprehensive computer-based bulk distribution system that offers a range of features and benefits for distribution depots:

Vehicle Loading and Unloading
Many different loading devices, such as preset controllers and weighbridges, can be connected to taOpen. Depending on the capabilities of the device, it is possible to preset loads, display messages and monitor equipment status. Data from these devices can be used to generate Bills of Lading and many other reports.

Vehicle and Pedestrian Access Control
A variety of card readers, displays, key pads, gates and barriers can be connected to taOpen. Displays and data input can accommodate different languages. The control sequences at access points can be easily customised to depot requirements. A high degree of security is possible through extensive database checking.

Stock Management
taOpen has a wide range of features to keep track of depot stocks. These features include tank gauging interfaces, reporting and data transfer. Receipts and deliveries are handled either manually or automatically, depending on site requirements and equipment. An extensive range of displays, graphics and reports are available to constantly monitor stock.

Supply Chain Management
taOpen interfaces with major third party supply chain management software such as SAP™, J D Edwards™ and SunSystems™. This allows load requests to be entered at head office or other locations, and then sent to individual terminals for loading. When loading is complete, taOpen sends data back to the supply chain management package.

Electronic Presets
Modern electronic presets control loading of blended and non-blended product, with or without additive. taOpen interfaces with the presets, monitors operations and updates the database.

Graphical Interface
taOpen's 3D graphical site display enables the operator to see and control the status of pumps, valves, tanks, and many other items of plant equipment.

Hardware and Software
taOpen is network-based. It can be configured to operate with a range of hardware - including stable, field-proven components such as Hewlett-Packard workstations and printers - and with complementary software components such as UNIX, LINUX, Microsoft Windows and Oracle.

Designed to work with the Internet, taOpen enables many users, either local or remote, to simultaneously access the system to monitor and control depot operations.

The software is continuously being updated in line with operating system capabilities, something that allows taOpen to stay at the forefront of software technology and compatible with all the latest hardware. It is fma's policy to provide updates to all customers with a support contract.
